This class will explore the physiological and psychological effects of stress. Participants will be invited to explore the power of presence through an introduction to mindfulness-based teaching and practice. Activities will include creative responding and the attitudinal foundations of mindfulness. A home-practice assignment will be given to encourage participants to begin their practice at home.

Teacher Bio:

Autumn M. Gallegos, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) and licensed clinical psychologist. She is an experienced Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor and teaches MBSR courses to faculty and staff of URMC. Her research explores the effects of mind-body interventions on post-traumatic stress symptoms among survivors of interpersonal trauma.
